2026 Municipal Election

The Municipality of St. Clair Township is preparing for the upcoming Municipal and School Board Election, which will take place on October 26, 2026.  Please check back to this page for ongoing updates.

VOTER INFORMATION

In order to qualify as an eligible elector for the 2026 Township of St. Clair Municipal Election, you must:

  1. Reside in the Township; or own land; or be a tenant of land within the Township; or be the spouse of owner or tenant;
  2. Be a Canadian citizen;
  3. Be at least 18 years of age on Voting Day (October 26, 2026)
  4. Not be prohibited from voting by the Municipal Elections Act or other legislation.

Your name must be on the voters’ list in order for you to cast a ballot. Visit RegisterToVoteON.ca for information on eligibility, registration and how to check, update or add your information to the voters’ list. For questions related to voter registration, email info@registertovoteon.ca or call 1-866-242-3025.

Voting in the St. Clair Township 2026 Municipal and School Board Election will be conducted using secure internet voting. Each registered voter will be mailed a Voter’s Information Kit which will contain your personal identification code which you will use to cast your ballot.  As an added security measure, voters will also be required to enter their date of birth to complete the voting procedure.

June 1 was the deadline to update your school support designation so MPAC could provide accurate information to Elections Ontario for the creation of the Preliminary List of Electors, in accordance with election timelines. You can still update your designation after June 1 by:

Your change will be recorded by MPAC, but it will not appear on the Preliminary List of Electors. After submitting your update, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Share this with your municipality so your information can be updated on the final Voters List.

CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Nominations for the Municipality of St. Clair Township will be accepted for the offices of:

  • Mayor (1): one elected at large
  • Deputy Mayor (1): one elected at large
  • Councillors: (3) three positions elected (Ward 1); Two (2) positions elected (Ward 2)

Nominations can be filed by appointment during regular office hours from May 1, 2026 and close on Nomination Day, Friday August 21, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
