Uni-directional Flushing Program –🌟Currently on Hold🌟

Please see below area that will be starting March 18th. It is a method of cleaning water mains by forcing water to flow in one direction through the pipes, using a combination of valve closures and strategically opening fire hydrants to create higher water velocity and improve water quality. Possible discoloured water during this time, it is recommended to run taps for 5-10 minutes.

UPDATE: Backflow Prevention By-Law

Attention all Industrial and Commercial water use customers!!!

The Township has passed the Backflow Prevention By-Law 35 0f 2023. The purpose of the By-Law is to prevent backflow into the Township’s drinking water system to ensure we deliver clean and safe drinking water to all of our users.

SANITARY FIXED FEE

St Clair Township introduced a sanitary fixed fee in 2020 to help the municipality pay for extensive costs related to the sanitary infrastructure upgrades required to improve the operational effectiveness of the Township sanitary system and meet provincial regulations.

UPDATE: Water and Sewer Use By-Laws and Discharger Information Report

Attention all water and sewer use customers!!!

The Township has recently updated the Water Use By-Law 23 of 2017 and Sewer Use By-Law 5 of 2026 

Discharger Information Reporters

Currently only Industrial and Commercial sanitary sewer customers are required to complete the “Discharger Information Report”.

In accordance with the Sewer Use By-Law 5 of 2026, a written notice will be sent to all required dischargers to complete a “Discharger Information Report” and submit to the Municipality within thirty (30) days of written notification. The discharger shall also provide written notification of any change in the information requested in the report a minimum thirty (30) days prior to the effective dates of such change. Discharge Information Reports can be submitted via email at stclairpw@stclairtownship.ca or mailed to the Township.

 

🌟Sanitary Sewer Flushing🌟

St. Clair Township Residents 

It’s getting that time of year again, and we will be starting our Fall Sanitary Sewer Flushing Program.

Public Works will be flushing sewer mains connected to the St. Clair Township sewer system during the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PMDuring this maintenance procedure you may notice some gurgling noises in drains.

If conditions persist after 24-48 hours of normal use, please notify Public Works @ 519-867-2993 option 3.

🌟Hydrant Flushing🌟
Public Works will be undertaking annual flushing of fire hydrants connected to the St. Clair Township Water Distribution System during the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM beginning now and continuing into the fall. During this maintenance procedure you may notice some water discolouration using your taps, flushing toilets, doing laundry, etc. as some sediment may be drawn into your residence. We recommend that you run the cold water tap for a few minutes or until the discolouration disappears.
If discolouration of the water continues after 10-15 minutes of normal use, please notify Public Works @ 519-867-2993 option 3.
