COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS: July 13, 2026

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP – At its regular meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026, St. Clair Township Council:

  • Heard a presentation from Originative Energy Solutions Partners regarding their proposal for an application to the Long Duration Energy Storage Project Procurement.
  • Heard a presentation from the Corunna Kiwanis Club and approved the group’s proposal for the Sifton Park Improvement Plan.
  • Proclaimed Oct. 15, 2026 as Pregnancy and infant Loss Awareness Day and Oct. 2026 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
  • Proclaimed Sept. 21 to 27, 2026 as Rail Safety Week.
  • Voted to support a motion from Plympton-Wyoming requesting enhancements to the Canada-Ontario Development Charge Reduction program.
  • Approved the request to close a section of St. Clair Parkway for the annual Port Lambton Gala Days Parade on Aug. 1, 2026
  • Approved the partial road closure request for the demolition of 1562 St. Clair Parkway, Courtright.
  • Accepted the correspondence from the Minster of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding changes to the strong mayor framework
  • Accepted the lowest bidding tender from Westhoek Construction for upcoming renovations to the river park washrooms at Guthrie Park, Willow Park, and Branton Cundick Park. The Mayor and Clerk were authorized to sign the contract and related project documents.
  • Accepted a notice of motion from Mayor Agar that council express strong support for the development of the Northern Shield Pipeline Project.

The next regular council meeting is Aug. 10,  2026, at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at the St. Clair Township Civic Centre, 1155 Emily St., Mooretown.

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP – July 16, 2026 –  Environment Canada has issued an ‘Air Quality – Orange Warning’ for Sarnia-Lambton as smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario moves into the area.
